Lynelle Hartman and Dar Gustafson co-founded Holly Hill in 2015. It was born out of a desire to share with kindred spirits how to use and reuse what we have in an effort to support a sustainable environment. No need to add to the landfill when a little paint can transform that old tape dispenser. Why suffer with that drab old desk when chalk paint and wax can make it pop! Often, older pieces are of better quality and workmanship. They’re unique, interesting and only a fraction of the cost of new.

Lynelle: Coming from a family who always did projects – from painting furniture to building houses and every thing in between Lynelle started as an assistant at the ripe old age of 7 or 8. Just so you know, this stat has been verified by Mom. Striping furniture, painting, staining, upholstery and creative projects have always been a way to change things up and give pieces and spaces new life. As an educator and collaborator she often says,” old pieces are built better, last longer and I love to see them become loved and renewed. “
Dar: She brings to Holly Hill a lifetime of experience in painting, remodeling, decorating and design. From splatter painting her bedroom wall (Jackson Pollock style) in the 60s, to designing a lovely addition, to taking out walls, to painting and repainting houses inside and out. Her tenacity and attention to detail keeps the ball rolling in the right direction. Dar brings this creativity and experience to all of our projects.
